MEC VR Shongwe has honoured women in agriculture, forestry and fisheries sectors for their role in the fight against unemployment and poverty, through their participation in food security. This, at the 2018 Provincial DAFF Female Entrepreneur Awards held in Middleburg on Tuesday night, 7th August 2018, under the theme: “Women Economic Empowerment: a Priority in the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Sectors”.

Speaking at the Awards MEC Shongwe congratulated all the participants at this year’s competition, saying to him , all of them are winners. The prestigious event was also attended by Executive Mayors of Nkangala District, Emalahleni , Steve Tshwete and Dr JS Moroka municipalities, ANC Chief Whip and the DARDLEA HOD, Mr Monareng.Those in attendance danced and sing along to Kelly Khumalo and gospel singer Bathabile Skhosana’s live performance .

The provincial overall winner is Ms E. Mhlongo. The winners in all categories have represented the province at the national DAFF FEA competition on the 23rd August 2018 in the Eastern Cape. The runner-ups also received the prizes.
