As the country celebrates the Human Rights Day, this week , the MEC for Education, Mr. Bonakele Majuba undertook a School Infrastructure Improvement Monitoring visit to Litho Secondary School in Nokaneng Circuit, Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality on Monday, 18 March 2024. 

The view of MEC Majuba is that school infrastructure improvement and creating conditions that are favorable for teaching and learning is a human rights matter which must be prioritized at all times. 

Litho Secondary School had a major renovations which included the demolition of dilapidated classrooms, a laboratory, and the administration block as well as the rehabilitation of 14 classrooms, the construction of two additional classroom blocks, an administration block and a library. 

It also included improvements on septic tank, covered walkways, and creating ample parking space, upgrading of water reticulation and electrification to guarantee a-reliable and efficient learning environment. 

MEC Majuba took stock of the work done, encouraged the community to reciprocate the rehabilitation and construction by taking care of the facility and to utilize it to empower the learners to reach their true potential. 

"As we celebrate Human Rights Day, let us also celebrate government’s quest to create conditions that are favourable for teaching and learning. We thus appriciate this investment at Litho Secondary School and the bright future it promises for the people of Nokaneng Circuit and beyond,” said MEC Majuba.

MEC Majuba Learners were excited by this gesture, especially grade 12 learners after receiving their tablets to enhance learning and teaching . They promised the MEC that they will work harder to reach their true potential.
