The Mpumalanga Provincial Government will present the draft Rural Development Strategy of the province during the Comprehensive Rural Development Programme (CRDP) Summit on 24th July 2012. The Provincial Government launched the CRDP in 2009, Mkhondo Local Municipality being the pilot municipality, with the Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Administration (DARDLA) serving as the coordinating Department. The CRDP was then implemented in all 19 wards of Mkhondo Local Municipality and later rolled out to six other municipalities namely; Dr Pixley ka Isaka Seme, Chief Albert Luthuli, Dr JS Moroka, Thembisile Hani, Nkomazi and Bushbuckridge.

The DARDLA has been involved in consultations with different stakeholders including District and Local municipalities on the development of the CRDP strategy and as a result of these consultations; the Provincial CRDP Summit which will draw both public and private stakeholders is the correct platform for the conclusion of the CRDP strategy. Stakeholders are expected to participate during the summit as the strategy will guide the province on the implementation of the programme going forward.

The summit is scheduled as follows:
DATE: Tuesday, 24 July 2012
VENUE: Lowveld College of Agriculture, Nelspruit
TIME: 08h30
