Winter is slowly approaching and a series of information sessions are in the pipeline to help farmers better prepare for the season. Winter is harsh on livestock as it leads to lack of grazing grass, veld fires and extreme cold conditions that are detrimental to crops.
During a session with Machine/Bundu farmers in Thembisile Hani Local Municipality, information was shared on the importance of proper vaccination, animal nutrition and supplementary feeding. Vet Services engaged the farmers on Lumpy Skin Disease, Brucellosis, Anthrax and Botulism, because these diseases are common and easily affect cattle in communal areas.
