The Mpumalanga Provincial Government will celebrate this year’s Provincial Heritage Day in in the Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality, under the Nkangala District Municipality. This year’s event will take place under the theme “Celebrating our Cultural Heritage: Strengthening the Ties that Bind Us,” highlighting the role of heritage, culture, and shared history in promoting social cohesion and provincial unity.
The Mpumalanga Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu, will lead the provincial celebrations by delivering the keynote address, and is expected to reflect on the province’s rich cultural diversity and emphasize how local customs, languages, and traditional practices serve as pillars for community development and social cohesion.
As part of the provincial leadership's commitment to integrated service delivery, the event will also bring essential government services directly to the people of Dr JS Moroka Municipality and surrounding areas. Key departments and state entities such as the Department of Home Affairs, the South African Social Security Agency (SASSA), and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA are also expected to setup mobile service points at the venue to assist community members with the services.
The formal program will highlight the talents of local artists through showcasing traditional dance performances, poetry recitations, and musical entertainment representing the province's diverse cultural groups.
