The challenges that relates to domestic violence, sexual offences, impact of alcohol abuse on crime and acts of vigilantism will come under the spotlight a Public Participation Programme (Imbizo that will take place in Acornhoek this weekend in Bushbuckridge.
The Imbizo will also be used to mobilize members of the community against crime and also to strengthen relations between the police and the community in the fight against crime. Residents will also be allowed to raise their complaints or compliments towards service delivery within Justice Crime Prevention and Security Cluster (JCPS) departments such as Home Affairs, SAPS. Bushbuckridge Local Municipality and local traditional leadership in the area will also support the programme.
In the true spirit of Thumamina, the representatives of the JCPS Cluster departments at the event will respond to issues that affect communities. However the issues that require further investigations will be referred to relevant state organs. Complainants will thereafter be provided with feedback upon the finalization of the investigation of such cases.
Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC, Pat Ngomane will deliver a keynote address.
