A 5-member delegation led by MEC Vusi Shongwe went on a four-day outbound mission to Serbia in Europe, and Egypt to get first-hand information and experience on a Tractor Assembling Plant. The team got straight into business upon arrival in Belgrade after an overnight flight to Serbia, visiting a Tractor Assembling Plant in Novi-Sad, and meeting with its Management.
They then proceeded to Alexandria in Egypt, on a similar fact-finding mission. MEC Shongwe announced during his Budget Speech in May that two sites, in Ekandustria-Nkangala and in Secunda-Gert Sibande District, had already been secured for the construction of a Tractor Assembling Plant in Mpumalanga.
Speaking during a telephonic radio interview while in Serbia, MEC Shongwe said the tractor assembling plant in the province will create the much-needed job opportunities, and will include both the assembly line and finished products. MEC Shongwe's delegation included Head of Department Ms Sindisiwe Xulu, DDG Mr MT Ngwenya, Dardlea’s Engineer Mrs Ipeleng Maroo-Maseko, and Chief Director Mr Israel Silinda.
