The MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Ms. Makhosazane Masilela led a delegation of various departments, tour operators, municipalities and the hospitality industry from Mpumalanga to the 2025 Africa’s Travel Indaba trade show, held at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, in Durban.
Africa’s Travel Indaba is one of the largest tourism marketing events on the African calendar and the most iconic African leisure trade show, which is annually held by the Tourism South African, at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre, in Durban. This year’s trade show was held under the theme “Unlimited Africa”, which signifies a bold declaration of Africa's boundless potential and its drive to overcome limitations.
“Mpumalanga province is number two in terms of international tourist arrivals and our aim is to become number one. Without a doubt, this Indaba presents the Province with an opportunity to showcase its offerings in as far as tourism is concern. The iconic trade show has a specific objective of creating market access and is an ideal platform for African tourism exhibitors to showcase their offerings to international and local buyers, destination marketing companies and leisure tourism services partners”, explained Masilela.
This year’s trade show hosted over 1,300 exhibitors from 27 African nations, including first-time participants from Chad, St Helena, and Burkina Faso, where they kicked off their engagement with more than 1,200 vetted buyers representing 55 countries. This emphasizes the Indaba’s importance as a proudly Pan African stage for building and shaping partnerships, driving investment, and modelling the future of African tourism.
“A tourist knows no borders – therefore, through the Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, the Province is using this Indaba to promote Mpumalanga as a premier tourist destination. The 2025 Africa’s Travel Indaba is the perfect platform for us to market and promote our products with an aim of attracting more tourists to visit our province to explore the scenic beauty and wildlife experience. The whole of Africa and the world needs to know that Mpumalanga is the only Province with God’s window; the home to the big-five, serene Sudwala Caves and the Graskop Gorge, amongst other breath taking attractions”, concluded Masilela.
