Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Pat Ngomane and stakeholders within the Justice, Crime Prevention and Security (JCPS) Cluster will on Saturday meet with the community of Leandra and surroundings to address crime issues affecting the area. The JCPS Cluster consist of the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, the South African Police Service, Department of Home Affairs, Department of Justice, Department of Correctional Services and the South African National Defence Force.

Currently the community of Leandra is experiencing a high rate of house breaking and assault. It is alleged that those who break into the houses steal metals to sell in scrap yards.

Communities will be provided with an opportunity to ask and raise their concerns to the MEC and members of the JCPS Cluster with regards to issues of crime. The community will also be provided with an opportunity to make inputs on government’s plan of action and to ultimately enhance policies on crime prevention.

The Imbizo is also expected to assist in strengthening the existing partnerships between government and communities in the fight against crime.
