The Office of the MEC for Finance has been alerted that the hackers are using the contact details of MEC Bonakele Majuba to solicit money from people.
MEC Majuba appeals to the public and stakeholders not to respond to scammers who pose as him. It is indicated that the scammers are using different languages, including English and Afrikaans.
This incident has been reported to the owners of the WhatsApp platform, and appropriate measures are being undertaken to notify law enforcement authorities about the breach.
