The Mpumalanga Department of Agriculture, Rural Development and Land Administration invites all media houses to the 2013 Provincial Abattoir Rating Scheme Awards (PARS) Ceremony that is aimed at recognizing the highest scoring abattoir in the province whilst evaluated with a standard Hygiene Assessment System (HAS) audits.
The Provincial Abattoir Rating Scheme is a voluntary scheme registered under the Meat Safety Act as a Meat Safety Scheme whereby abattoirs are awarded a rating annually based on the Average result of quarterly HAS audits. Last year’s provincial event had 34 competitors whilst this year will have 36 abattoirs competing.
The following criteria will be applied to determine the rating of each provincial abattoir:
Gold rating : -95-100
Silver rating : -80-94
Bronze : -60-79
No rating : -between 50 and 60 finale score.
