Middelburg – Mpumalanga MEC for Economic, Development Environment and Tourism, Mrs. YN ‘Pinky’ Phosa will honour 120 youth who have completed training in furniture manufacturing, stainless steel products manufacturing and tool making. The training is part of the Department’s contribution towards youth empowerment.

This follows a partnership between the Department and the Furniture Technology Centre based in White River; the Mpumalanga Stainless Initiative (MSI); Mpumalanga Stainless Steel Cluster (MSSC) and the Mpumalanga Tooling Initiative.

The training of the youth in furniture manufacturing mainly aims at providing technical and business skills on furniture manufacturing, including an option for post incubation or employment. Through the Stainless Steel Cluster, Mpumalanga Steel Initiative and Mpumalanga Tooling Initiative, the province aims to grow the stainless steel beneficiation, create opportunities for the previously disadvantaged communities to enter the stainless steel business and the tool making business.
