The MECs for Community Safety, Security and Liaison Mr Vusi Shongwe, Public Works, Roads and Transport, Mr Mandla Ndlovu and Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Ms Mpumi Hlophe will table their Policy and Budget Votes for the current fiscal year at the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature on Tuesday, the 13th of June 2023 at 9H00.
MEC Shongwe is expected to reflect on crime prevention and road safety initiatives of the department. He will also outline plans to combat contact crime and issues of mob justice in the province. Over and above this, the MEC will highlight some of the achievements and challenges of the department in the previous financial year.
MEC Ndlovu will highlight departmental achievements since 2022/23 and plans for 2023/24 financial year respectively. He will further focus on various programmes of the department including the acceleration of job creation through EPWP, construction of roads, healthcare facilities, schools and other public infrastructure projects as well as the provision of integrated public transport system amongst others. Meanwhile, MEC Hlophe is expected to outline the spending plans on the budget appropriated to the Provincial Treasury for the 2023/24 financial year.
The main focus will be on strengthening oversight of all departments, municipalities and public entities, internal audit, supply chain management, as well as support for transversal financial systems.
