
Mr Speed Katishi Mashilo is a Member of the Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature. He boasts a consummate political career coupled with many years of leadership from local and provincial government spheres. As a Political Head, Mashilo has been tasked with overseeing human settlements development in Mpumalanga.
Mashilo was born in 1964 in Enkeldom. He attended Bingweni Secondary School, where he obtained a National Senior Certificate. He further received training in the following areas, International Delegation, Local Government Study Tour: North Africa and Europe, Third United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urbanization Habitat III Summit: Quito, Ecuador (2016) and 9th Session of the World Urban Forum: Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2017).
In addition, Mashilo attended the Business College and obtained Computer Diploma. He also went to Israel Centre for International Cooperation and obtained a Certificate in The Role of People’s Organization in Community and Nation Building. He further Attended Technicon Pretoria, where he received a Certificate in Computer Literacy. He continued with CSB South Africa and did Action Learning through a Skills Development Programme. In succession, he went to the University of Pretoria, Executive Leadership (Municipality Development Programme) and Wits University (Business School), where he obtained a Certificate in Programme on Management and Development (CPMD).
Mr Mashilo’s political deployment over the years is as follows, Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, Member of the Executive Council (MEC) for the Department of Human Settlements 2021, Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature, Member of the Provincial Legislature (MPL) 2019, Member of the Executive Council (MEC) Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (2018).

Moreover, Mashilo has been in politics for an extended period in which he gained a broader understanding of Government, especially about proper planning and service delivery. Other responsibilities he held were a SALGA Mpumalanga Provincial Executive Committee Chairperson. SALGA National Executive Committee Member of the Executive Committee, ANC Provincial Executive Committee Chairperson 2022, ANC NKANGALA REGIONAL COMMITTEE Chairperson 2014 to 2022, ANC Nkangala Regional Committee Chairperson 2011 – 2014, ANC Nkangala Regional Committee Deputy Chairperson 2008–2011, ANC Nkangala Regional Committee Treasurer 2005–2008 and Community Activities. He is also the current Traditional Leader (Chief) of the Mashilo Tribe.
