The R23 Road between Balfour and Greylingstad has yet again claimed lives during a collision between an articulated truck and a sedan. Five lives perished during the collision. The victims were all occupants of the sedan.
The crash happened at around 19h30 this evening of Thursday, 08 January 2026.
Emergency Services personnel are currently at the scene and an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.
The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison continues to encourage motorists to be cautious and adhere to the rules of the road.
Drivers are also urged to take resting breaks when traveling long distances.
Meanwhile, the Department sends condolences to the families of the deceased.
