The Department of Co-operative Governance and Traditional Affairs (COGTA) in Mpumalanga is saddened by the passing of Inkosi KJ Malaza of the Mandlamakhulu Traditional Council in Tjakastad, Chief Albert Luthuli Local Municipality. Inkosi Malaza served in the Provincial Executive Committee of the House of Traditional Leaders, led by Kgoshi L Mokoena, from 2012 to 2017.
MEC for COGTA, Ms. Busi Shiba, and the Mpumalanga Provincial House of Traditional Leaders (MPHTL) have expressed their condolences to the Mandlamakhulu Traditional Council and the entire Malaza royal family. “Inkosi Malaza's death is a great loss for the entire Institution of Traditional Leadership, not just the royal family,” she said.
He served his community with distinction. The department will remember Inkosi Malaza as one of those traditional leaders who was dedicated to community development and ensuring that his community had access to government services. His warmth and friendliness will be sorely missed and the institution of traditional leadership in Mpumalanga will be poorer without his stature.
His passing came at a critical time for the Provincial House of Traditional Leaders, when his leadership and inputs are needed to help facilitate the finalization of provincial-specific legislation, ensuring that the institution's dignity is finally restored and it takes its rightful place in society.
Ends.
