Four people were killed today around 17h00 when a Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) they were traveling in overturned on R540 Road between Belfast and Dullstroom.
The deceased include two men and two women and they all perished at the scene.
Three other persons including the driver sustained serious injuries and were transported to Belfast hospital for further treatment.
Meanwhile, three people also died on R580 Road between Secunda and Embalenhle just after midnight on Saturday following a head-on collision between two sedans. Six people were critically injured and they were transported to hospitals in Evander and Gauteng depending on tbs severity of the injuries.
The investigation into both crashes is already underway.
Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Vusi Shongwe has once more called on motorists to be more cautious on the road to avoid deadly crashes.
"One death on our roads is one too many. We must all play our part to save lives from deadly crashes that often leave devastation in families and communities," the MEC said.
He has further called on motorists who will be traveling after school holidays to obey the rules and be more tolerant to avoid needless crashes.
Meanwhile, Shongwe is extending condolences to the bereaved families. He is also wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
