The Provincial Road Safety Debate finals will take place on Saturday at Mbombela Stadium. Four regions Nkangala, Ehlanzeni, Gert Sibande and Bohlabela will each be represented by five learners. The debates are part of government’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety in young people because they use the roads as newly licensed drivers, pedestrians and passengers.

The debates, which consist of both urban and rural categories, started a few months ago at district levels where representatives competed against each other to determine the regional winners who will be competing at provincial levels over the weekend.

Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Pat Ngomana will deliver a keynote address and also preside over the prize giving ceremony later in the day. Saturday’s winners will later represent the province at national Road Safety Debates that will be held at Umtata in the Eastern Cape Province under the auspices of the National Department of Transport during the first week of October this year.
