The challenges faced by communities as a result of crime will come under the spotlight at a Public Participation Programme (Imbizo) that will take place in Marite this weekend.
The Imbizo will be used to mobilize members of the community against crime and also to strengthen relations between the police and the community in the fight against crime. It will also be used as a platform to establish ways of tackling crime. Residents will be allowed to raise their complaints or compliments towards service delivery within Justice Crime Prevention and Security Cluster (JCPS) departments.
Representatives from various departments of the JCPS Cluster will respond to issues raised by the community during the event. However, the issues that require further investigations will be referred to relevant state organs. Complainants will thereafter be provided with feedback upon the finalization of the investigation of such cases.
Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC, Vusi Shongwe will deliver a keynote address.
