Community Safety and Security Liaison
Media Advisory

Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Pat Ngomane will tomorrow lead a Pedestrian Safety Campaign in Acornhoek which is part of the Road Safety Festive Season Campaign which has been rolling since the beginning of December.

The MEC is expected to interact with members of the community to conscientize them about road safety and crime related matters during this holiday season and beyond.

The campaign is part of many initiatives of the province that are currently rolled out in order to contribute towards the reduction of crashes that continue to claim many lives. Other activities include road blocks, rest stops and awareness campaigns.

The event will take place as follows:
Date: Thursday, 29 December 2016
Time: 10h00
Venue: Magwagwaza School [Sports Ground] Acornhoek, Bushbuckridge Municipality

The event will also form part of an Interprovincial Roadblock between Limpopo and Mpumalanga which will take place at the border of the two provinces in Acornhoek. Both MEC’s from the two provinces, Limpopo MEC for Transport and Community Safety Ms Nandi Ndalane and Mpumalanga Community Safety, Security and Liaison MEC Pat Ngomane as well as Provincial Commissioners from both provinces will join the roadblock.

The Department will also conduct an overnight rest stop in Vosmaan on the N4 Road on the 30th of December from 18h00 where motorists will be afforded time to rest, especially those who are travelling long distances. This is another effort by the department to curb road crashes since some crashes were as a result of fatigue by motorists.

Stakeholders such as SAPS, SANDF, Emalahleni Municipality Traffic and SARS are expected to be part of the rest stop.

Ends.
