The Mpumalanga Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison will host provincial school debates on impacts of substance abuse this weekend. The department in partnership with its stakeholders has developed a plan aimed to empower and support safety structures in schools including the implementation of strategies to minimize and root out criminal activities within schools.
Discussions on the impacts of substance abuse will be debated by learners from different regions in the province. This is aimed to bring awareness and information to educate leaners on issues pertaining substance abuse and how they may be affected after using this substance abuse and, crime prevention.
The debates competitions started at Municipal level, progressed to regional level and finally to the provincial level and 15 learners from the three regions in the province, Gert Sibande, Ehlanzeni and Nkangala will come together to compete on school based challenges educating and raising awareness on that topic to learners.
