Government officials in Mpumalanga will gather for the annual Provincial Sports Day at Mbombela Stadium on Friday, 16 September.
This year’s event will start with a mini-marathon, which gets underway at the Groove Shopping Centre at 06:30 and finish at Mbombela Stadium. Thereafter, the officials will via for top honours in football, netball, volleyball and indigenous games.
“The event is mainly to promote physical wellness of employees through HIV/Aids testing and counseling, health screening and fitness activities,” says the department’s Sibongile Nkosi.
Nkosi adds that each department will release 100 officials to participate in the Provincial Sports Day. “We are looking forward to seeing officials showing their sporting talents,” concludes Nkosi.
