The Department of Culture, Sport and Recreation will hold Africa Day Celebrations in Nkomazi and Mbombela on the 25 and 26 May respectively.
Africa Day is celebrated annually on the 25th May in recognition of the formation of the Organisation of African Unity (AOU) a precursor to the African Union (AU).
The MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation Ms Thandi Shongwe explained the purpose of these celebrations "The purpose of Africa Day festivities is to foster a sense of African solidarity, inclusivity, and cultural heritage. This is meant to bring all Africans together in an effort to highlight that our strength lies in our unity as one people."
There will be diverse exhibitions, featuring traditional forms of performance art such as music, dance, and poetry in both events.
