The Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison (DCSSL) wishes to reassure members of the public, motorists and vehicle dealerships that their documents, including driving licences, are safely kept at the Piet Koornhof Building in Emalahleni.
This follows pictures and videos circulating on social media showing documents and files allegedly left unattended at our offices.
The documents and uncollected driving licences had to be moved from the Witbank Driver Licensing and Testing Centre (DLTC) to the Piet Koornhof Building following its closure by the Department of Labour due to infrastructural challenges. This interim measure has been implemented to ensure that members of the public who have applied for driving licences can continue to be assisted and that licensing services continue to be rendered.
Regarding the images seen online, at the time they were taken, officials were in the process of moving and arranging all the documents.
We wish to reassure members of the public that their documents are safe. Should there be any breach in this regard, the Department will move swiftly to address it.
