Premier Mandla Ndlovu has welcomed the presentation of the National Communication Policy, made by the Government Communication and Information System (GCIS). The presentation was made to the sitting of the Executive Council today, 22 July 2026, at the Makhonjwa building at the Riverside Complex.

The GCIS team was led by the Deputy Minister in the Presidency, Mr Kenny Morolong, who is on a country-wide advocacy, to present the Policy to Provincial Governments.
The policy is a communication framework which seeks to strengthen the coordination of the three spheres of government communication. The executives of Brand South Africa and the Media Development and Diversity Agency (MDDA), were part of the Deputy Minister's delegation.
MDDA has invested more than R14 million over the past five years in Mpumalanga, to buy a state-of-the-art studio equipment and office furniture. A call for new applications for grant funds has been opened from 3 July 2026.
Premier Ndlovu encouraged government communicators to use the communication policy as a guide to communicate government programmes effectively, working closely with all media organisations, particularly community media, to ensure that information reaches communities across the province.
The session reaffirmed government's commitment to improving communication, promoting transparency and accountability, and ensuring that communities remain informed about government programmes and service delivery initiatives.
