Mbombela – Finance, Economic Development and Tourism MEC, Mr Pat Ngomane, on Saturday visited the Kromdraai Camp at Songimvelo Nature Reserve, just outside Elukwatini in Mpumalanga, to check its readiness to receive people who may need to be quarantined once they have tested positive for COVID-19. The Camp is one (1) of the five (5) Provincial Reserves identified and approved by the National Department of Health as possible COVID-19 Provincial Quarantine Sites.
“I visited the Camp to check if everything was in order, to receive people who may require to be quarantined once they have tested positive for the COVID-19 disease. I can thus confirm that all is in order; we are ready as Mpumalanga, to receive people who may be referred to us, to be quarantined. In total, the five (5) approved Sites have a combined bed capacity of 675”, explained MEC Ngomane.
The other four (4) Provincial Reserves approved as Quarantine Sites are: SS Skosana; Zithabiseni Resort at the Mabusa Nature Reserve (both in the Nkangala District); Andover; and Manyeleti (both in the Ehlanzeni District).
“In case additional beds are required, we have also identified the MRTT Hotel School in KaNyamazane, The Royal Hotel in Pilgrim’s Rest, the Graskop Lodge and all boarding schools in the Province, as possible quarantine sites”, added the MEC.
Community members are also advised to continue to wash their hands with soap and water regularly, for at least 20 seconds, or to utilise sanitisers with a minimum alcohol content of 60%. In case of emergency, they are advised to contact the National 24-Hour COVID-19 Hotline on 0800 029 999.
