Mbombela – Mpumalanga Finance, Economic Development and Tourism MEC, Mr Pat Ngomane, and her Social Development counterpart, Mrs Blessing Thandi Shongwe will next week table their Budget Vote Speeches for the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (Vote 6), and the Department of Social Development (Vote 12), for the 2019-2020 financial-year, respectively. The Speeches will provide detailed plans on how their Departments will utilise the funds allocated to them earlier in the year.

This will be the first Budget Vote Speeches for the two (2) MECs, following their appointments to their respective portfolios, after the May 2019 national and provincial elections. In the case of MEC Ngomane, he is responsible for two (2) portfolios – that of Finance; and Economic Development and Tourism. This makes Mr Ngomane the political head of both the Mpumalanga Provincial Treasury (Vote 3), and the Department of Economic Development and Tourism (Vote 6) – two distinct provincial departments – and will thus table two (2) separate Budget Votes. Mr Ngomane previous served as the MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison whilst Mrs Shongwe served as the MEC for Culture, Sport and Recreation during the fifth administration.

Details of the tabling are as follows:
Date: Tuesday, 09 July 2019
Time: 14h15
Venue: Mpumalanga Provincial Legislature Chamber, Baobab Building, Riverside Park Ext. 2, Mbombela

All media is invited.

Please note: Journalists/Reporters are required to be seated by 14h00.
