EXCO outreach programme in Nkomazi Local Municipality concludes with Premier's Imbizo at Magogeni village

The three-day EXCO Outreach Programme in Nkomazi Local Municipality has come to a close, culminating in the Premier's Imbizo at Magogeni Village. The programme began with an extended Executive Council (EXCO) meeting on Wednesday, setting the tone for a series of engagements aimed at strengthening service delivery and community participation across the municipality. The second day of the EXCO Outreach Programme saw Members of the Executive undertake a range of activities across Nkomazi Local Municipality. The activities included the official opening of Silulu Secondary School in Kamaqhekeza and the official handover of the Chief Mandinda Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre by Education MEC Lindi Masina. COGHSTA MEC Speed Mashilo also conducted a site visit at the water treatment plant at the Driekoppies Dam. The programme concluded today with the Premier's Imbizo at Magogeni Village, where community members were afforded the opportunity to raise their concerns directly with the leadership of the Provincial Government, led by Acting Premier, MEC Speed Mashilo. Water challenges emerged as a key issue during the Imbizo, with community members raising concerns about access to reliable water supply. In response, Executive Mayor of Nkomazi Local Municipality, Ms Phindile Magagula, outlined ongoing efforts to address the area's water challenges, highlighting the Driekoppies Dam project as one of several interventions currently underway to ensure that communities receive the water services they deserve. She explained that the problems form part of a broader programme to strengthen water infrastructure and improve service delivery across affected areas within the Municipality. The Provincial Government has taken note of the concerns raised by the community and has reaffirmed its commitment to working hand in hand with the people of Nkomazi to address the challenges identified during the Imbizo. Through continued engagement and collaboration, the Provincial Government and the Nkomazi Local Municipality remain committed to ensuring that the interventions discussed translate into tangible improvements for the community.
