Masilela to release the findings of the investigation into of maladministration and corruption levelled against the CEO and some officials at MTPA
Mbombela — The MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Ms. Makhosazane Masilela will hold a Press briefing to release the findings of the forensic investigation regarding allegations of maladministration and or corruption at the Barberton Makhonjwa Mountains World Heritage Site, levelled against the CEO and some officials at MTPA.
The investigation follows a complaint from stakeholders and the landowners of the World Heritage Site who cited possible maladministration and corruption in the appointment of service providers. Subsequently, the Board of MTPA placed the CEO on precautionary suspension on 05 August 2024, pending the investigation.
MEC Masilela says the Department remains committed to uphold good governance and transparency in all its Public Entities. Therefore, she deems it necessary and believes it is in the public interest to release the findings of the investigation to the public.
"The 7th Administration has made a commitment to the public that it will not tolerate corruption and mismanagement of public funds. We therefore appeal to all public servants to refrain from any corrupt activities, because this Administration has declared zero tolerance to corruption", says MEC Masilela.
