The delivery of quality infrastructure and sound local government continue to be key priorities for the Mpumalanga Provincial Government. This as Public Works, Roads and Transport (DPWR&T) MEC, Mr Thulasizwe Thomo together with Cooperative Governance, Human Settlements and Traditional Affairs (CoGHSTA) MEC, Mr Speed Mashilo will later this week deliver their 2026/27 Policy and Budget Votes respectively.

MEC Thomo is expected to outline key infrastructure projects that will be undertaken by the department during this financial year. These will include amongst others, construction and maintenance of roads, plans and strategies to ensure safety within public transport operations, projects to be implemented on behalf of client departments. He will further highlight some of the achievements recorded during the last financial year.

Meanwhile, integrated development, functional municipalities, traditional institutional development and cooperative governance will be the key focus areas during CoGHSTA's presentation. MEC Mashilo will reflect on previous achievements, challenges, interventions and outline plans and priorities for the 2026/27 financial year.

The presentation will concentrate on key strategic areas on efficient and effective municipalities, support provided to traditional councils, improved planning, access to affordable housing and roll-out of basic services for the current financial year and beyond.
