Community Safety and Security Liaison
Media Statement

Mpumalanga MEC for Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Mr. Jackie Macie, urges motorists to renew expired vehicle and driving licences, to ensure compliance and hassle-free travel during the Easter long weekend.

Almost 62,000 driving licences and 62,400 vehicle licences are due for renewal. Motorists and fleet companies must comply to avoid penalties and fines. Timely renewal keeps their vehicles registration active, avoiding issues with law enforcement.

Driving with an invalid licence may lead to criminal and civil litigation, insurance repudiation, and financial losses. MEC Macie encourages vehicle owners to use the Department's ongoing Debt Management programme to arrange payments for outstanding vehicle licences.

The Department has so far collected R20,438,031.54 of R54,439,994.40 outstanding, since the Debt Management project started in September 2024. 623 vehicle owners have made arrangements to pay in instalments.

Motorists can visit the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison, Transport Administration and Licencing Unit, or call 060 911 9388 to arrange payments.
