Mpumalanga Department of Health is proud to announce the successful delivery of triplets, a remarkable achievement that highlights the hospital’s commitment to providing exceptional maternal and neonatal care in our community. Triplet pregnancies are rare, classified as high‑risk multiple gestations, and are frequently associated with preterm delivery between 32 and 34 weeks of gestation. Such cases typically require advanced maternal and neonatal intensive care.
The successful outcome at Mammethlake Hospital in the Dr JS Moroka Local Municipality demonstrates the facility’s capacity to provide specialized, high‑care services in a rural setting. The deliveries took place on the 27 October 2026 from 9h30 via the normal route, and both the mother age 34 and the three newborns are doing well and they still being monitored in the hospital.
The triplets, two boys and a girl weighing 2100g, 1970g and 2020g respectively delivered by our dedicated team of obstetricians, nurses, and support staff who worked tirelessly to ensure a safe and healthy delivery. This event not only showcases the advanced capabilities of our hospital but also underscores the importance of accessible healthcare in rural areas.
The MEC for Health in Mpumalanga, Ms. Sasekani Manzini, extended best wishes to the mother, and acknowledged the exceptional efforts of the healthcare professionals
" We are proud that this rare and complex obstetric case was successfully managed in one of our public healthcare facilities.
