The Mpumalanga Provincial Government today convened a Monitoring, Evaluation and Planning Seminar at the Nkangala District Municipality, bringing together government officials, monitoring and evaluation practitioners, and key stakeholders to strengthen evidence-based decision-making and improve service delivery.
The seminar provides a platform to reflect on progress in implementing monitoring and evaluation systems, assess institutional capabilities, and strengthen collaboration between provincial departments and municipalities to improve programme performance.
Addressing delegates, the Chief Director for Monitoring and Evaluation Services in the Office of the Premier, Mr Peter Shube, emphasised the importance of moving beyond compliance-based reporting towards a culture of continuous learning, adaptive management and evidence-based planning.
“The effective use of monitoring and evaluation evidence is critical in informing policy development, improving programme design and ensuring the efficient allocation of resources to achieve better outcomes for our communities,” said Mr Shube.
The seminar also focuses on the implementation of the revised Evaluation Policy Framework as part of ongoing efforts to build a responsive and results-oriented monitoring and evaluation system that supports better governance and service delivery in Mpumalanga.
