The Mpumalanga Provincial Government will on Thursday, 18 June 2026, host the 2026 Africa Public Service Day (APSD) celebration in Bushbuckridge, Ehlanzeni District.

The APSD is an entrenched strategic event on the African Union calendar, originating from the first Pan-African Conference of Ministers of Public and Civil Service held in Tangier, Morocco in 1994. South Africa, through the Department of Public Service and Administration, celebrates the occasion annually as one of the Batho Pele Flagship Projects under the Batho Pele Revitalisation Strategy.

Mpumalanga Province is strategically positioned as one of South Africa’s critical water source areas, contributing significantly to agricultural production, energy generation, tourism, mining and biodiversity conservation. The 2026 Africa Public Service Day commemoration will therefore focus on strengthening integrated water governance, climate resilience, innovation, sustainable infrastructure investment and citizen centered service delivery, across the province.

Additionally, the commemoration will serve as a platform for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge sharing among government institutions, municipalities, communities, development partners, civil society, academia and the private sector, with a focus on practical and integrated solutions to water and sanitation challenges affecting the province.

The event is expected to draw representatives from government, water boards, district and local municipalities, civil society organisations, youth and women structures, academic institutions, and the business sector.

The Africa Public Service Day celebration has been arranged as follows:

Date: Thursday, 18 June 2026
Time: 08H00
Venue: Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Auditorium

Members of the media are invited, and those who wish to attend can send confirmations to Ms. Tlangelani Rikhotso on 079 516 6991.
