The Mpumalanga Provincial Government will host an official Heritage Day celebration in Grootvlei.

Heritage Day is a significant occasion on the South African calendar, as it provides an opportunity for citizens to reflect on and celebrate the rich cultural diversity and traditions that contribute towards social cohesion. It recognizes and celebrates the cultural wealth of the nation.

South Africans celebrate the day by remembering the cultural heritage of the many cultures that make up the population of the country. Various events are staged throughout the country to commemorate this day.

The Mpumalanga Province has immense cultural diversity, indigenous knowledge system and different traditions and languages, with vibrant communities that foster pride in its heritage. The province is home to a diverse range of cultures including Swazi, Ndebele, Afrikaans, Tsonga, Zulu, and Pedi communities.

The Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu will lead the provincial Heritage Day celebrations in the rural Grootvlei where he will outline the province’s cultural heritage as a catalyst for economic growth and community development.

Premier Ndlovu is also expected to encourage the citizens to embrace their unique identities while working together to build a more inclusive and prosperous future at the celebrations that would feature a variety of cultural performances and exhibitions that reflect the rich art of the province.

The provincial Heritage Day celebration is scheduled as follows;
