The Premier-Elect for the Mpumalanga Provincial Government, Mr Mandla Ndlovu will be sworn in on Tuesday, in accordance with Section 129 of the Constitution. The swearing in ceremony follows the election of Mr Ndlovu unopposed, during the first sitting of the legislature on Friday, 14 June 2024.
Section 129 states that the Premier-Elect must assume office within five days of being elected, by swearing or affirming faithfulness to the Republic and obedience to the Constitution. Judge President of the Mpumalanga Division of the High court, Justice Segopotje Mphahlele will administer the procedure. This will mark the transition from the 6th to the 7th administration, following the 2024 National and Provincial elections.
The Premier-Elect is also expected to announce Members of the Executive Council.
