The Executive Mayor of Thembisile Hani Local Municipality, Cllr Lesetja Jacob Dikgale, the Director-General of the Office of the Premier, Ms Maggie Skosana and senior management participated in a series of Mandela day activities aimed at improving the lives of local communities.

The programme commenced with a clean-up campaign at an illegal dumping site in Phola to promote a cleaner and healthier environment. This was followed by the patching of potholes along a key route to improve road safety and accessibility for residents.

The day's activities concluded at a local Early Childhood Development (ECD) centre, where trees were planted in support of the Presidential One Million Trees Campaign. The centre also received donations to assist with its day-to-day operations and create a more conducive environment for learning and development.

This provincial commemoration in the Thembisile Hani Local Municipality forms part of a broader Mandela Day programme, with community service activities taking place across municipalities throughout Mpumalanga today, demonstrating the provincial government's shared commitment to improving the lives of communities through acts of service.

Through this initiative, the Office of the Premier reaffirmed the spirit of Nelson Mandela Day by encouraging acts of service that contribute to cleaner communities, environmental sustainability and improved social well-being.
