Mpumalanga Premier, Mr Mandla Ndlovu, today engaged with the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM), represented by the union's Mpumalanga Highveld Region Regional Secretary, Mr Tshilidzi Mathavha, and the Congress of South African Trade Unions (Cosatu), represented by its Mpumalanga Provincial Chairperson, Mr Siyabonga Hlongwane. The meeting was also attended by the MEC for Economic Development and Tourism, Ms Jesta Sidell and senior management of the provincial government.

The engagement focused on the mining sector, which remains a central pillar of the Mpumalanga economy. Discussions centred on attracting greater investment to expand economic activity and create sustainable jobs for the people of Mpumalanga.
The Province reaffirmed its commitment to working in constructive partnership with organised labour, business and government to unlock further economic growth. Emphasis was placed on infrastructure development and beneficiation to strengthen the mining sector and stimulate broader economic activity across agriculture, manufacturing and services.
