The Premier of Mpumalanga, Mr Mandla Ndlovu today joined the Provincial Legislature to deliver a key address at the Women’s Parliament, focusing on progress made regarding resolutions and priorities raised in previous sittings.
Premier Ndlovu addresses Women's Parliament
The Women's Parliament is taking place at Acornhoek in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.
The gathering brings together women from different sectors to discuss issues affecting women and is also intended to explore opportunities available for their empowerment and development.
Delivering a message of support, Dr Norah Fakude encouraged women to believe in their potential and ability to succeed despite limited resources.
Addressing delegates, Premier Ndlovu reaffirmed the Mpumalanga Provincial Government's commitment to advancing women's empowerment and protecting women entrepreneurs.
Premier Ndlovu emphasized that the government would continue to work with law enforcement agencies and stakeholders to safeguard the interests of women especially those who are in the construction sector against intimidation and criminal activities associated with construction mafia.
The Premier also highlighted progress made in promoting women into leadership positions, explaining that women constituted at least 46% in the senior management service within the Mpumalanga Provincial Government.
He further reiterated the Provincial Government's commitment to tackling Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) and protecting the rights and dignity of women and girls across the province.
