The Mpumalanga Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu will pay a visit to two schools in the Bushbuckridge Local Municipality this week, as part of his oversight programme. The Premier will focus on the Masilela Secondary School in Bushbuckridge and the Thulani Primary School at Mkhuhlu.
During the visit Mr. Ndlovu will assess the impact of the Provincial Government’s social intervention programmes, such as the scholar transport, the school nutrition and Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena.
Through the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport, the Provincial Government is providing scholar transport to more than 75 000 learners through out the province, while all learners are provided with free meals to ensure that none of them, attend classes without food.
Through the Rhandza Xikolo Xa Wena programme, implemented by the Department of Education, several schools are under maintenance and repair, to enhance the conditions for learning and teaching. During the visit, Premier Ndlovu will assess the impact of the programme and provide guidance for intervention measures, should challenges be detected.
The Premier will also provide school uniforms to identified learners, in line with his commitment to encourage learners to attend classes for knowledge acquisition, as a vital tool of human development.
The Premier will also visit two successful youth-led enterprises, namely: the GNG Investments and Sibuyinvest (Pty) Ltd. Both companies have been financed through the Premier’s Youth Development Fund, a youth empowerment programme, aimed at job creation to reduce the unemployment rate among the youth in the province.
The GNG Investment specialises in steel manufacture and boasts a staff compliment of 23 employees, while the Sibuyinvest, a poultry abattoir, has an employment roll of 13 people.
