Premier of Mpumalanga, Mr Mandla Ndlovu, will deliver the Keynote Address at the Mpumalanga Integrated School Safety Indaba, hosted by the Mpumalanga Department of Education in collaboration with the Department of Community Safety, Security and Liaison under the theme “Building Safer Schools Together.”
The two-day Indaba will bring together learners, educators, parents, local authorities, and community organisations to address critical safety challenges facing schools across the province.
The Indaba seeks to foster dialogue and share best practices for enhancing the safety and well-being of learners, educators, and support staff, ultimately creating secure learning environments. By bringing together diverse perspectives and expertise, the event aims to develop comprehensive strategies that address the unique safety challenges faced by schools in Mpumalanga, ensuring that effective measures are implemented and sustained through community ownership.
The Indaba will focus on key themes including the shared responsibility for school safety, the role of technology and innovation in enhancing security, learner leadership and peer support in promoting a culture of safety, as well as conflict resolution and emotional resilience. Representatives from a broad cross-section of society are expected to attend, including learners, parents, government officials, police, traditional and community leaders, NGOs, the business community, health practitioners, and labour formations.
