During the closing address of the Taking Legislature to the People (TLP) programme, Premier Mandla Ndlovu highlighted key achievements by the Mpumalanga Provincial Government aimed at improving the lives of residents in Steve Tshwete Local Municipality.

From 2024 to June 2026, the Department of Public Works, Roads and Transport (DPWRT) awarded approximately R7 billion in contracts, with 99.7% benefiting black-owned enterprises, 45.2% awarded to women-owned businesses, and 23.5% to youth-owned enterprises.
Through the Expanded Public Works Programme (EPWP), 4,732 work opportunities were created in Steve Tshwete, including 2,450 opportunities for young people.
In the education sector, government is working with Seriti to build two new schools, with sites already identified by the municipality. In addition, several schools have been renovated, including:

The Premier also noted that the availability of medication at health facilities in Steve Tshwete stands at 95.5%, ensuring improved access to healthcare services for communities.
Addressing water challenges, the Premier highlighted partnerships between government and mining companies to drill boreholes in affected areas.
He further encouraged residents, particularly vulnerable households, to register with the municipality for available support programmes and services.
Premier Ndlovu commended MECs, Heads of Departments and government officials for their dedication and commitment to delivering services to the people of Mpumalanga.
