As the world marks the role of health workers in saving the lives of the people, the Mpumalanga Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu will this week join the global community in celebrating the International Nurses’ Day. The annual commemoration is dedicated to honouring the extraordinary contributions and unwavering commitment of nurses worldwide.

The commemoration seeks to honour nurses for their role as frontline workers in the healthcare system. Their compassion as caregivers who provide medical care and comfort to the most vulnerable during health crises, is grounded in their Code of Conduct.

The Provincial commemoration will be led by the national nursing association, the Democratic Nursing Organisation of South Africa (DENOSA). The International Nurses’ Day has become a rallying point to emphasize the importance of the nursing profession, and to advocate for the enhancement of resources for nurses.

Premier Ndlovu will be accompanied by dignitaries, among them Health MEC, Ms. Sasekani Manzini and DENOSA’s 2nd Deputy President, Ms. Linah Jiyane. The commemoration will be held under the theme: “Our nurses. Our future. Caring for nurses strengthens economies”.

The commemoration is scheduled as follows;

Date: Monday, 12 May 2025
Time: 09h00
Venue: Hilltop Assembly Church, Mkhuhlu
