Mpumalanga Premier Mandla Ndlovu will launch the Mpumalanga Provincial Human Resource Council (MPHRC) tomorrow. This body will be responsible for identifying critical skills shortages and addressing them through education, skills training, and additional interventions.
The council will advise the Mpumalanga Provincial Government on the need for and implementation of human resource benchmark development policies and strategies. It will concentrate on the economy's needs and engage with broader socio-economic challenges related to human resource development.
It will also function as a platform for ongoing dialogue and consensus-building among stakeholders, regarding all issues related to human resource development.
Furthermore, the council will promote cooperation among business, civil society, government, and organised labour to invest in education and training. Each sector will take shared responsibility for human resource development within its area of expertise, improving the coordination and focus of efforts to meet provincial priorities.
The structure will include the Premier as Chairperson, along with other members nominated by recognised stakeholders.
