Mpumalanga Premier, Mr Mandla Ndlovu, will this weekend lead the provincial commemoration of the Mandela day in Thulamahashe Stadium in Bushbuckridge Municipality, to heed a call of action to make a positive impact in the community.

Mandela Day is an annual international day, held on 18 July each year. In South Africa it is celebrated throughout the month to honour Mandela’s contribution towards conflict resolution, democracy, human rights, peace and reconciliation.

In honouring Mandela’s legacy, people and organisations around the world take part in various activities through volunteering 67 minutes, to improve the conditions of the less privileged. These include the donation of relief material such as food, clothes and other amenities.

In volunteering his 67 minutes, Premier Ndlovu will visit a community home based care and a stimulation centre, and later address the community at the Thulamahashe Stadium.

Details of the activities are as follows:

Date: Saturday, 27 July 2024

1. Oakley Home Based care centre (Soweto) at 08h30
