The Premier of Mpumalanga, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu will address a strategic meeting of the South African Sugar Association (SASA) which is convened to discuss critical agricultural issues in the province.

The sugar industry operates in Mpumalanga and in KwaZulu-Natal provinces, creating 65 000 direct and 250 000 indirect jobs. Mpumalanga province has at least two sugar mills in Malelane and Komatipoort, in the Nkomazi Local Municipality which provides services to a significant number of small-scale sugar cane growers. The sugar mills also play a critical role in the province’s economy through its processing of raw sugarcane into sugar and by-products.

The Premier’s meeting with SASA will reflect on small scale growers and their contribution in the economy, whilst reflecting on strategies aimed at creating more job creation in the province.

The Premier’s meeting is scheduled as follows;
