The Mpumalanga Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu will officially open and hand over the new state-of-the-art Godide Secondary School, in Thulamahashe, Bushbuckridge Local Municipality.

The handover is a major infrastructure milestone by the Mpumalanga Provincial Government aimed at boosting educational quality and eradicating poor learning environments in the province especially in Bushbuckridge Local Municipality. Furthermore the government seeks to ensure that every learner has access to resources that foster academic excellence.

It boasts new classrooms, modern science laboratory, administration block, computer centre, library, kitchen, toilets, Grade R centre, hall, guard house, reliable electrical and water infrastructure.

Premier Ndlovu says Mpumalanga is on a quest to improve the performance of learners across all levels. He says the construction of the Godide Secondary school will foster the realisation of the target by the 598 learners enrolled in this academic year.

In year 2021, Godide Secondary School obtained a 90 percent pass rate, continued to get 88 percent rate in 2022, 63 percent in 2023, and an impressive 80.4 percent pass rate in 2024.

Premier Ndlovu will officiate at the official opening ceremony, and will be accompanied by Education MEC, Ms. Lindi Masina, Public Works Roads and Transport MEC, Mr. Thulasizwe Thomo, Bushbuckridge Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Cllr. Lydia Moroane and the Chairperson of the Mpumalanga House of Traditional and Khoisan Leaders, Kgoshi Lameck Mokoena.

He further expressed his excitement about the new school saying the Provincial Government is delivering infrastructure that matches the potential of the children even in the rural areas.
