The Mpumalanga Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu, will this week undertake visits to two schools in Bushbuckridge and Wonderfontein respectively, in line with the government’s back to school programme.

Premier Ndlovu’s visit to Orhovelani High school has been prompted by the 33 percent in the Matric Class of 2024. The results depict an underperformance when compared with the previous results, with only 16 out of 48 learners, obtaining good results.

In his visit, the Premier will engage both the teachers and the learners in a quest to improve the performance. He is also scheduled to officiate the official handover of the Morelig Combined School, which caters close to 900 learners from the farms around Wonderfontein who utilise a scholar transport to attend classes.

Situated in Nyabela village within Emakhazeni Municipality, the school was first opened in 1948, and was relocated due to mining activities. The state-of-the-art school boasts 20 modern classrooms, a fully equipped computer laboratory, media centre, hall, an administration block and top-tier ablution facilities.

The Premier’s visits to both schools are arranged as follows;

1. Orhovelani High School
Date: Tuesday, 04 February 2025
Time: 07h00
Venue: Thulamahashe, Bushbuckridge Municipality

2. Morelig Combined School
Date: Wednesday, 05 February 2025
