Premier of Mpumalanga, Mr Mandla Ndlovu, has welcomed the British High Commissioner, Mr Antony Phillipson, and his delegation to the province, as part of ongoing efforts to deepen trade and investment ties between Mpumalanga and the United Kingdom. The meeting, attended by Members of the Executive Council, the Director-General, Ms Maggie Skosana, and Heads of Departments, formed part of broader engagements aimed at strengthening the province's strategic partnerships with international investors.
Premier Ndlovu described the visit as a reflection of the longstanding ties of friendship and cooperation between South Africa and the United Kingdom, ties that continue to flourish through trade, investment, education, and cultural exchange. He reaffirmed Mpumalanga's position as a province of opportunity and a strategic partner of the United Kingdom, while appealing for the continuation and growth of existing investments in the province.
The British High Commissioner highlighted areas for expanded cooperation, including enhancing export opportunities to the United Kingdom for Mpumalanga-produced goods such as citrus, advancing university exchange programmes through scholarships, and deepening collaboration on the just energy transition and green economy.
The engagement underscored the continued importance of collaboration between Mpumalanga and the United Kingdom in advancing the province's investment and development priorities.
