Office of the Premier
Media Statement

The Office of the Premier (OTP) has obtained a clean audit for the 2024/25 financial year, as issued by the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA). The audit outcome signifies the OTP’s compliance with the basic requirements of good governance and financial management systems.

A clean audit outcome is one of the measurement tools to determine whether state institutions comply with applicable legal and financial legislation in the performance of their duties. The outcome is significant as it is based on an independent analysis of AGSA, a chapter 9 institution.

The Premier, Mr. Mandla Ndlovu has welcomed the outcome as a significant milestone in the department’s efforts to improve governance and financial management systems, through strong internal controls. “The clean audit outcome is a sign of a high level of commitment by officials in the department, led by the Director-General, to perform their duties guided by legal and financial prescripts. It affirms the department’s accountability for the use of public funds, as tested by AGSA, an independent body, charged with the responsibility to do quality assurance,” the Premier expatiated.

The clean audit achievement marks a new era for the Office of the Premier, which over the past financial years, achieved unqualified audit outcomes. As Premier Ndlovu observes, the implementation of audit recommendations raised by various governance structures has paid off. “The implementation of audit recommendations by the Internal Audit, and Oversight Committees, mainly Audit Committee, is attributable to the achievement. We will continue to work hard in order to sustain this achievement, to improve public trust,” he outlined.
